Silent Auction 2007

Funkalicious ...Get Down, Bid Up!

Led by event chairs Terry and Lydia Turnipseed , the 12th Annual Silent Auction, Funkalicious, was a huge success. Thanks to the support of local businesses and the MPH community, a record-breaking $64,000 was raised at this event. Some of the most popular auction items included a week long trip to Carmel by the Sea, a handmade water feature, and a learn-to-scuba course. As usual, the class baskets were a big hit, generating over $1,800 in raffle ticket sales. Overall, nearly 400 items were donated.

Many of  the 250 guests came decked out in their funkiest attire and really helped to set the mood. Our unique dinner menu included specialty waffles from Funk’n Waffles such as the Dinosaur BBQ waffle, a falafel waffle, and the sought after brownie waffle. Classic ‘70s funk music was heard throughout the gym and kept people on the dance floor all night.

Thank you to the dedicated auction committee and volunteers, who worked for hours on end soliciting donations, obtaining advertisements, and transforming the gym and dining hall into Funky Town! Thanks also goes to our faculty, who helped make our new “Faculty Experience” area one of the highlights of the night. Finally, thank you to all of our donors, advertisers, sponsors, and bidders who supported this event. We appreciate all you do for MPH.
