Spring Gala 2008 The 25th annual Spring Gala, held April 5, 2008 , was a great success! The event was held in the newly renovated Grand Ballroom at Hotel Syracuse, which served as an amazing backdrop for All That Jazz. Guests came in 20's attire sporting flapper dresses and zoot suits. Pascale's provided a four-course gourmet dinner for this special event and MPH's own Joe Colombo and his Salt City Jazz Collective had the whole crowd out of their seats dancing the night away. As a special treat, Carrie Manolakos ’02 got the evening off to an amazing start with a spectacular performance of “All That Jazz” accompanied by Andrew Carroll ’05 on piano. At this event, we honored "The Sprit of Volunteerism," recognizing all those who give time and energy to MPH and our mission. This year's Clambake chair, Claire Myers-Usiatynski '72 and former trustee, Charlie Beach gave heartfelt speeches followed by a memorable poem by Jan Hampton (who although was not in attendance, was there in spirit!) An impromptu live auction generated over $5,000 and allowed guests to bid on two much-coveted prime parking spaces on campus. The Silent Auction generated an additional $11,000 thanks to many talented local artists who contributed to this year's Artists' Invitational. Overall, this event generated nearly $95,000 to benefit MPH. Many thanks to our amazing Gala committee led by their dedicated chair, Kathy Arendt. Countless hours went into the planning of this event and the School is very grateful to this hard-working group of parents. We would also like to thank our guests, advertisers, sponsors, and underwriters. Without their support, this event simply wouldn't happen. Last, but not least, thank you Alan Byer Volvo, who as our Premier Benefactor, has stepped forward for the past four years to show support above an beyond our expectations. Work has already begun on the 2009 event, so please feel free to
