Student Publications

The Windmill is Manlius Pebble Hill's literary magazine, published annually and sent to students, parents, and faculty in late spring. In the last several years, The Windmill has received national recognition, including Columbia University's Gold Award for Best Literary magazine, First Place in the National Scholastic Press Association Competition, and numerous awards from the Empire State Student Press Association. The Windmill was named Best Overall Literary Magazine for New York state schools with enrollments of fewer than 1,000. This is the second consecutive year the magazine has won this award. Last year, fifteen students who contributed to The Windmill also won individual awards. The Windmill fosters and encourages passions for poetry and prose through the medium of community participation and interaction.

Schwa is a product of the Manlius Pebble Hill Middle School students, with the assistance of a faculty advisor. A magazine that includes poetry, photography, fiction, 3-D artwork, paintings, song lyrics, watercolors, prints, and non-fiction pieces, it is the result of contributions from sixth- to eighth-grade students and the organizing and design work of the eighth grade Publications class. The 2005-2006 edition was the publication's first year, though previous years saw other arts magazines produced by Middle School students and faculty. All submissions--one per student--are accepted. The magazine is produced using Adobe InDesign.
