The BBC has fantastic background sheets and profiles of ongoing conflicts in the world. There are also video clips, sound clips, and archives of old programmes that are also helpful.

This is a great site if you are in EST, Disarmament, or a committee that requires background on issues such as weapons, global warming, and other science-related topics.
