Get Involved

There are various ways you can get involved in the Alumni Program. The following is just a sample of where volunteers are needed. If any of these opportunities interest you or you have ideas of your own, please contact the Director of Alumni Relations, Kasha Mitchell Godleski, at 315/446-2452, ext. 136.

Alumni Association Board

The Board is made up of a group of alumni volunteers from all over the world. Board members are nominated each June and are voted onto the Board at the Alumni Association's annual meeting held each year during Clambake Weekend. This group meets three times a year to determine the yearly goals of the Alumni Program. The president of the Association Board is Russ Andrews '64.

Alumni Connection

The Alumni Connection is a subcommittee of the MPH Board of Trustees. Josh Wells '89 is the chair of this committee. The group is made up of local alumni volunteers, who work closely with the staff of the Kreitzberg Family Alumni Lodge to plan and execute alumni reunions and events. Their main goal is to connect alumni with each other and with the School. Check out the Events Calendar and see what the Alumni Connection is working on now!

Class Agent

The Class Agent's major role is to help us keep in touch with his/her classmates. Twice a year we publish our alumni magazine, Reflections, and we ask Class Agents to gather information on their classmates for the Alumni Notes section of the magazine. After all, isn't that the first part of the magazine that you read? We also ask our Class Agents to contact their classmates and offer them a personal invitation to any upcoming alumni event. The Class Agent is also used as a resource to help us identify other volunteers in their class.

Reunion Class Chairs

Each year we celebrate the special reunion classes (classes that graduated 5, 10, 15, 20, 25...years ago) during our annual Clambake Weekend in June. We are always looking for representatives from those classes to help us contact and communicate with their classmates. The responsibilities of Reunion Class Chairs include writing at least two letters to classmates throughout the year prior to the reunion and following up with phone calls to classmates to confirm participation. A Reunion Chair may also choose to organize a reunion gift. For example, donations from the class of 1989 made in honor of their 10th reunion went to name a classroom. For all of these efforts, the Alumni Office staff will help - from mailings to updating class lists. Just let us know what you would like to do for your class reunion.

Clambake Committee

Clambake Weekend takes place each June. The weekend's events include a golf tournament, individual functions for Manlius, Pebble Hill and MPH alumni, an opportunity to meet with the Head of School and current students, a Clambake on campus with an all-you-can-eat menu, and an evening cocktail party. There is a lot of planning and preparation that goes into the weekend and each year members of the Clambake Committee help us in various ways. Some of the "duties" of the Clambake Committee are to help identify and secure Reunion Class Chairs, brainstorm ideas and possible changes or additions to the weekend, and assist in making the established events even better.

Alumni Annual Giving Program

Once a year the school solicits alumni for gifts to the Alumni Annual Giving Campaign. Last year, over $65,000 was donated to the school by alumni. These contributions make a vital impact by helping provide scholarship and financial aid support, campus improvements, an innovative curriculum, and a growing alumni program. Last spring, current MPH students helped us contact alumni to personally ask them for their support. Over half the alumni contacted chose to participate by making a pledge.

Event Chair

As you can see from our Events Calendar we offer various programs throughout the year. What makes these events successful is having an enthusiastic Event Chair. An Event Chair is responsible for working with the Director of Alumni Relations on the logistics of the event as well as contacting alumni and former faculty to encourage attendance.

Regional Reunion Chair

If you would like to see a Regional Reunion in your area, let us know. The Chair is asked to host the reunion or help us identify an appropriate place for a reunion. Our Regional Reunions attract anywhere from five to seventy-five alumni. They can be in the form of a small dinner party, a cocktail party, or an informal gathering at a local pub.

Memorabilia

The Kreitzberg Family Alumni Lodge is filled with wonderful treasures of the past. Just recently we were able to organize the memorabilia in a way so that we are able to easily access the items to use as resources or to display. Included in the archives are thousands of pictures and newspaper articles that still need to be sorted and identified. Volunteers are also needed to help us select items to display around the school and at alumni reunions and events. Although it may be tedious work, it is a lot of fun to look through the history of the Manlius School, Pebble Hill School, and MPH.
