Roll Call Las Vegas IIIWynn Las VegasNovember 16 – 18, 2007 After months of planning and preparing, Roll Call Las Vegas III went off without a hitch! During the weekend of November 16 -18, over 100 alumni and friends gathered at Wynn Las Vegas where we enjoyed the sophisticated surroundings, the most delicious food, and the company of old and new friends. The festivities began with a Welcome Reception on Friday evening. Russ Andrews ’64, president of the Alumni Association, greeted the group and thanked them for the efforts they made to attend this event. Head of School Baxter Ball welcomed everyone on behalf of Manlius Pebble Hill School and presented a token of our appreciation to the members of the Planning Committee – Bob Cryan ’59HQ, Ed Nathan ’61HQ, Tom Rhoades ’59C, and Jack Wells ’60B. Steve Wynn ’59HQ, who had just flown in from the East Coast, made a surprise appearance at the event and was excited to see many of his former schoolmates. After the reception half the group continued on to Le Rêve, “a breathtaking performance in an intimate aqua theater in-the-round.” At the dinner, Bob Cryan served as the emcee and he presented small gifts to the most senior alumnus present (Warren Johnson ’40B) and the alumnus who brought the most memorabilia (Nick Laino ’59A). Suzi (Bahner) Harriff, daughter of former faculty David Bahner, lead The Manlius School grace before we were served an amazing meal. Head of School Baxter Ball and Peter Manolakos, president emeritus of the MPH Board of Trustees and co-chair of Our Promise for the Future: A Campaign for Manlius Pebble Hill spoke to the group followed by Jack Wells ’60B, president emeritus of the Alumni Association. On behalf of MPH, Ed Nathan ’61HQ presented a vintage Manlius School saber to Steve Wynn to thank him for all he has done for the School and the Alumni Association. Steve Wynn accepted the gift with heartfelt thanks as his saber had been stolen years ago. (The transcript of the evening’s program will be available within the next few weeks.) After dinner Steve Wynn treated the group to Monty Python's Spamalot, which was produced at the Wynn theater. The next morning the group gathered over a continental breakfast to say their goodbyes. Alumni and friends were already asking when Roll Call Las Vegas IV will be scheduled. Stay tuned…
