The inaugural Athletic Hall of Fame banquet was an amazing success! Nearly 200 guests filled the MPH gym to honor athlete from Manlius, Pebble Hill, and Manlius Pebble Hill Schools. More photos will be posted soon, so please check this site regularly.

The following athletes were inducted at the June 12 banquet:

Fall 2000 Soccer Team – MPH’s 1st New York State Championship soccer team! 24-0 record, Class D Champs & NY state champions

Fall 1963 Red Knight Football Team – 6 wins, 1 loss (to West Point), Commendation by United Press International as #1 Prep School team in the nation.

Tom Cahill - Manlius football coach and later the head coach of the United States Military Academy college football program from 1966-1973. During his tenure as head coach, Army beat Navy five times. Following the 1966 season, the Eddie Robinson Coach of the Year award was bestowed upon Coach Cahill.

Mary Rulison ’73 – Mary began her athletic career at Pebble Hill and was the best-all around athlete winner in 1971. She played on 1972 field hockey team, which was the first undefeated time in MPH history.

John Brockington ’67C – John played football for Manlius, Ohio State, and the Green Bay Packers. In 1971, he was the NFL Rookie of the Year.

The John Lenore Legend Award – Honoring the School’s greatest athletic and life achievers. Named in honor of John Lenore ’47A (also a 2010 recipient.) This lifetime achievement award is the pinnacle of Hall of Fame ceremony.

Nominations for the Manlius Pebble Hill School Athletic Hall of Fame are now being accepted! Submit your nomination in the following ways:

1. Complete Nomination Form or
2. Call Maureen Anderson, director of alumni relations at 315/446-2452, ext. 136 or
3. After reviewing the criteria below, e-mail your nomination to Maureen Anderson. Please include your name, school, and year along with your nomination.

Only alumni of The Manlius School, Pebble Hill School, or Manlius Pebble Hill School, and current and former faculty can nominate. While not exclusive, the following attributes should be principle factors in making appropriate selections for induction into the Hall of Fame:

  1. Sportsmanship
  2. Athletic Excellence
  3. Versatility
  4. Character
  5. Leadership
  6. Commitment

Nominations will be accepted through April 1, 2012 and can be submitted online, via fax (315/446-7359) or by mailing the following to MPH, Athletic Hall of Fame, 5300 Jamesville Road, DeWitt, NY 13214. Acceptance by hard copy must be postmarked by April 1. E-mails and faxes must be received by 5PM on April 1st.

Five inductees will be chosen from the following categories from any combination of Manlius School, Pebble Hill School, and Manlius Pebble Hill School alumni.

Manlius Pebble Hill School Athletic Hall of Fame Mission Statement

The Manlius Pebble Hill School Athletic Hall of Fame was established to honor alumni, coaches, and teams who have made exceptional contributions to the quality, tradition, and spirit of The Manlius School, Pebble Hill School, and MPH athletics.

Eligibility for alumni nominees begins with their 5th class reunion and for coaches begins after the tenure at our School. Posthumous nominations will be accepted and all nominees will be considered by the Athletic Hall of Fame Committee, which is chaired by an alumni representative and comprises a group of alumni, faculty, staff, and members of the Alumni Association Board.

The Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony is held every other year during Clambake Reunion Weekend. Those nominations submitted with this year’s class may be renewed for the next class by simply by e-mailing, writing, or calling the alumni office. Only alumni and current/former faculty may submit nominations.
