How to Apply

Each year, Manlius Pebble Hill School admits approximately 100 new students on a rolling admission basis beginning in April. Applications are especially encouraged for Pre-K, Kindergarten, Seventh, and Ninth Grade as we add new sections at those grade levels.

Admission decisions are made with a commitment to our mission of academic excellence, cultural, ethnic and socioeconomic diversity, and the recognition of special talents. We seek to enroll students who will benefit from and contribute to the MPH community, with preference given to siblings of current students and children of alumni.

Each applicant must complete the following steps before an admission decision can be made.

Application

Please complete the Admission Application and return it to Manlius Pebble Hill along with the application fee. If applying for more than one student, please submit a separate form and fee for each applicant. The application fee is $50.

Student Questionnaire

Students applying for Grades 6 through 12 are asked to handwrite their responses to the questionnaire, which will help us learn more about the applicant and aid us in selecting a student guide for the applicant's school day visit. It is best to send the Student Questionnaire with the application.

School Tour

Parents are encouraged to meet with the Director of Admission and tour the campus. Please call the Admission Office at 315/446-2452, ext. 131 to arrange an appointment.

Applicant School Visit

MPH believes that it is important for students applying to Kindergarten through Grade 12 to spend time visiting the appropriate classes and meeting other students. Student guides are assigned to Middle and Upper School applicants for their visit, and lunch is provided. We request that applicants follow our dress code during their visit. Please call the Admission Office for more information and to arrange a visit.

  • Students applying to Grade 1 will spend the morning in Kindergarten.
  • Students applying to Grades 2 through 5 will spend two days in their current grade.
  • Students applying to Grades 6 through 12 will spend one day in their current grade.

Testing

Pre-K and Kindergarten: Testing is not required for Pre-K applicants. Kindergarten applicants will be evaluated during their visit in morning Pre-K.

Lower School: Applicants to Grades 1 through 5 will be evaluated during their school visit.

Middle and Upper Schools: Applicants to Grades 6 through 12 will be given an aptitude test supplied by the Educational Records Bureau (ERB) that evaluates their verbal and quantitative abilities. Individual appointments may be scheduled by calling the Admission Office. The admission test is also offered annually on a Saturday in January as a part of our Crosby Scholarship Program.

Records Release Form

An up-to-date transcript from the applicant's current school is required. Parents should complete and sign their portion of the Records Release form and give it to the appropriate person at their child's school - classroom teacher, guidance counselor, or principal. The school should send the form and the requested records directly to MPH.

Teacher Recommendation Forms

Pre-K and Kindergarten: The current nursery school or Prekindergarten teacher should complete the appropriate form.

Lower School: The current classroom teacher should complete the appropriate form for applicants to Grades 1 through 5.

Middle and Upper Schools: Applicants to Grades 6 through 12 are asked to give the Teacher Recommendation Forms to an English teacher, a mathematics teacher, and an extracurricular teacher or coach. Personal references are also welcome.
