How to Apply
Each year, Manlius Pebble Hill School admits approximately 60 new students who we believe will benefit from and contribute to the unique academic and social environment of the MPH community. Admissions decisions are made with a commitment to our mission as well as cultural, ethnic and socioeconomic diversity. Families interested in applying to MPH can learn more about the School by attending an Open House or Information Session, or by scheduling a personal meeting and tour with the Director of Admissions.
When to Apply
Applications for the 2014-2015 school year will be available online on January 2, 2014 and will continue to be accepted until all available spaces are filled. Parents are encouraged to apply their child to MPH as early as possible for the best chance at securing a space in their child’s class. Applying early also allows more opportunity to receive financial assistance, so we encourage all families to begin the application process as soon as the MPH application becomes available online.
How to Apply
The application process varies by grade level, but all applications begin with the submission of our online MPH Admissions Application Form. Supplemental application items typically include Teacher Recommendation Forms, School Records and a Student Questionnaire. Upon submission of the online application, you will be linked to PDF files of the supplemental application materials required for the grade level you have applied to.
Applying for Financial Aid & Scholarships
MPH is committed to working with families to help manage the cost of enrollment and offers tuition grants and scholarships to applicants who need assistance meeting the cost of enrollment. We have partnered with School &Student Services, a subset of the National Association of Independent Schools, to offer families the opportunity to apply for financial aid. The SSS application for financial aid* can be submitted any time after you have submitted an application for admission to MPH. Submitting a financial aid application will not affect eligibility for admission and financial information is not shared with the Admissions Committee.
*Please note that there is a $41 fee due to SSS at the time of submission.
Applicant School Visit
Upon review of the initial application materials, the Office of Admissions will invite eligible applicants to visit MPH for at least one full school day (most Lower School applicants visit for two consecutive days while most Middle and Upper School applicants visit for one day). The visit is a great way for the applicant to experience MPH, meet fellow students and our faculty and staff. The visit is also an opportunity for faculty and staff to engage with the applicant to help determine if the School provides the right academic and social fit.
MPH Entrance Exam
Applicants to grades 6-11 take a short entrance exam called the CTP IV Exam, an aptitude test supplied by the Educational Records Bureau (ERB) that evaluates the applicant’s verbal and quantitative abilities. The exam scores becomes a part of the applicant’s admissions portfolio, alongside the school records, teacher recommendations and student essay. The exam is typically administered in the Admissions Office at the end of the applicant’s school visit day.
Upon completion of the application portfolio and school visit, the MPH Admissions Committee will review all application materials and make an admissions decision. The Director of Admissions will communicate the admissions decision and guide the families of accepted students through the process of enrolling their child.
