Upper School Supply List
General for all US students:
1. (USB Flash drive) of 2 GB or more - We strongly encourage all kids to save their work to flash drives when creating PowerPoint presentations, using digital images, video projects of all kinds, or ANY OTHER technology related projects. This is a good practice to get into for backing up files and for being able to easily move among platforms and devices.
2. Calculator - Please note that all Math courses from Math 7 and beyond require a TI-84 calculator. The Ti-89 is recommended for students taking AP Calculus.
3. Planner, pens and pencils for all 9th graders.
BY COURSE:
English Courses:
1. AP Lang
A notebook or binder section specific for this class (for class notes), and a journal (can also be a composition notebook) for reflecting, brainstorming, drafting, and so on.
2. AP Literature and Composition
You will need a notebook along with either a binder or pocket folder to hold handouts. Always bring a writing implement, either a pencil or a blue or black pen.
3. English 9
You will need a composition notebook and a journal. The composition notebook will be used for free writing, class notes, and some homework assignments; it will go back and forth between home and school. The journal should have at least 80 sheets (160 pages), and should not be spiral bound. Nothing elaborate is needed. It can also be a composition notebook. It will stay in the classroom to write about their independent reading.
Students should also get a dictionary for home use. If they have an iPod touch, an iPhone, an iPad, or a Droid, they should get a dictionary app, preferably Merriam-Webster or Dictionary.com. They should pay for the app so they won't need to get on-line to use it. If they don't have one of those devices, they should get a Merriam-Webster or American Heritage dictionary. A mass-market paperback version should be sufficient.
4. English 10
A notebook or section in a binder to keep notes and journal entries
A folder for handouts
A flash drive would be nice, but that doesn't need to be devoted solely to English.
5. English 11
You will need a notebook along with either a binder or pocket folder to hold handouts. Always bring a writing implement, either a pencil or a blue or black pen.
6. The Language of Film
You will need a notebook along with either a binder or pocket folder to hold handouts. Always bring a writing implement, either a pencil or a blue or black pen
