Lower School: Grace R. Kniesner Extended Day Program

The Program

The Grace R. Kniesner Extended Day Program is an after school program for children in Grades Pre-K through 5. The program runs only on regular school days from 3:10 - 5:30 pm when MPH is in session and not on school vacation days, snow days, or conference days.

MPH staff direct the program assisted by others chosen for their ability to relate to young children and their creativity.

Experience proves that outdoor play is what children want and need most, and this takes place whenever weather permits. Plenty of alternative activities are offered, such as reading or games in a "quiet room," art projects, or use of the computer lab with educational software. Activities are voluntary.

Middle School After Hours Program
Because Middle School Students often need after school supervision as well, MPH offers the MS After-Hours Program from 3:30-5:30. This program has greater flexibility than Extended Day to support the needs of MS students to have some social time and the flexibility to seek out teachers for help with homework, use the library or computer lab, or play a game with a friend. Many families opt to use the program for the in-between times while waiting for sports practices encouraging the student to complete homework. The program is housed in Bradlee 3 so that your child can see you approach, sign-out and meet you in the pick-up area. Those needing to make regular use of the program may contract for the service or a daily drop-in rate can be assessed based upon use.
